Social Justice Power Hour
ANITA DIAMANT
Anita is known for her bestselling novels including "The Red Tent" & "The Boston Girl". but her new book, "Period. End of Sentence." showcases her ability as a columnist, award-winning journalist, & author of six non-fiction nonfiction guides to contemporary Jewish life.
When the documentary film, "Period. End of Sentence." won an Oscar, Melissa Berton — producer & founder of the non-profit Pad Project — accepted the award by saying, “A period should end a sentence, not a girl’s education.” Inspired by the film, Anita Diamant has written a book that explores the cultural roots of menstrual injustice, which erodes self-esteem, limits opportunities, & even threatens lives. The book also celebrates a new generation of activists & innovators working to end period poverty & stigma as well as describing the brave new world of period products, advertising, art, & comedy & as the venerable New York Times sez, "This hopeful celebration will be a useful tool for raising awareness."
