Drag Queen Story Hour

Kids, families, adults of all ages & all our friends & allies are invited for a fun & engaging story hour featuring the fabulous Harmonica Sunbeam.
Drag Queen Story Hour helps children learn about gender diversity, promotes self-acceptance, & builds empathy through stories & songs.
Miss Sunbeam will lead the children through fun songs & stories, followed by some delightful craft-making.
DQSH teaches children to accept & celebrate gender diversity in themselves & others, & helps to curb bullying of LGBTQIA children.
Proudly presented by the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice as our first community fundraiser.
All proceeds go directly to our burgeoning community activist center, educational enclave, & safe-space for all our kids, families, & beautifully diverse folks everywhere!
Adults, then drop the kids off at yer in-laws & please
join us later for the after-party,

LGTQIA Cultural Competencies Panel

This panel presentation, moderated by Robt Seda-Schreiber of the
Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, will include information about language and definition of terms associated with the LGBTQIA community, specifically lesser known identities within the community, that will increase cultural competency for those attending.

Topics to be covered include: definitions of sexual orientation and gender identity and how the two interact; a primer on pronouns; the LGBTQ experience, hetero-normativity, gender binary, and privilege; changing our systems, policies, and procedures to be inclusive and non-binary; how to be a good ally to the LGBTQIA community.

Panelists include Alex Aikens, Program Manager at HiTOPS, and Michele Mazakas, member of PFLAG/TNET Princeton as well as others.

Refreshments will be served.

The night before the Women's March, The Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice in alliance with Princeton Girl Up will host an inspirational poster-making & share-your-truth gathering.
The Center will be open for folks from all of our diverse communities to come together to make signs to bring to the March as well as to share stories, hopes, & experiences.
This safe-space will allow girls & women (& their allies!) to create a moment of inspiration & aspiration moving forward together.
Creativity & poster-making supplies available but gladly accepted if you want to contribute!
